Fashion Week: history
Fashion. An artfully created epidemic
Fashion. An artfully created epidemic (G.B. Shaw)
The fashion week is a famous fashion industry event lasting about a week. An important opportunity to present the latest collections and to discover new trends. The first fashion week was held in New York in 1943. It was created to promote local fashion because it became impossible to import the prestigious European clothing due to the Second World War. At the end of the war, the New York project was also welcomed by other fashion capitals: Paris, London and Milan, and then spread in other important cities in the last decades. Some fashion weeks are dedicated to presentations of specific products: Miami is dedicated to holiday clothes, Portland to ecological garments. And in these days the Paris Fashion Week is unmissable: 25 September-3 October.
