Dolce e Gabbana and the collection inspired by the Promessi Sposi
A combination of fashion and perfect literary revisitation
“Well, said the good-eared, but solemnly in command, ‘ this marriage is not to be done, nor tomorrow, nor even’” (Alessandro Manzoni)
The Sicilian stylists Dolce and Gabbana have recently presented on the shores of Lake Como a collection of high fashion and jewelry for the fall/winter 2018-2019 inspired by the Promessi Sposi, the famous historical novel by Alessandro Manzoni. In this evocative place, among well-dressed good-natured people, the models paraded wearing wide dresses with narrow corsets that recall the peasant clothes of the time, obviously revisited in fashion. On the head precious jewels that refer to sperada, the characteristic crown of the Lombard brides of the sixteenth century.Beautiful illustrations created by Francesco Gorin for the 1840 edition appear among the richest jewelry. And an alluring Monza nun, dressed in black lace, could not miss on the catwalk.
