Nacque infatti nel 1901 quando il Ministero della Guerra inglese ne ordinò un modello, a metà strada tra l’impermeabile d’ordinanza e il cappotto militare, alla ditta Burberry che dal 1856 produceva il primo tipo di cappotto realizzato in gabardina, una tela impermeabile molto resistente. Da allora il suo uso si è diffuso anche nella quotidianità. Spalline, allacciatura a doppiopetto, cintura e falda triangolare sovrapposta all’allacciatura lo caratterizzano. Tradizionalmente color miele, oggi lo si trova in molte sfumature. A più di un secolo dalla sua invenzione è un capo passepartout che valorizza chi lo indossa…da portare come più piace.
